Liiga vähe rassilist mitmekülgsust? Mustanahalised näitlejad boikoteerivad Oscari galat

Jada Pinkett Smith teatas juba teise mustanahalise näitlejana, et ta ei osale veebruari lõpus toimuval 88ndal Oscarite galal.

Pinkett Smith näib olevat pettunud, et tema abikaasa Will Smith, kes esitati oma rolli eest filmis "Concussion" Oscari kandidaadiks, nominatsiooni siiski ei saanud.

Naine teatas videopöördumises, et tunnustuse kerjamine ja nominatsiooni palumine mõjub väärikusele. "See nõrgendab võimu ja me oleme väärikad ja võimsad inimesed. Ärgem unustagem seda," ütles ta ja lisas, et las Akadeemia teeb, mida soovib ja nemad teevad teistmoodi.

Proua Smith edastas sõnumi ka Oscari gala õhtujuhile Chris Rockile teatades, et ta ei osale küll galal ega vaata seda ka televiisori vahendusel, aga ta ei kujuta ette ühtegi paremat meest selle töö tegemiseks, kui Rock seda on.
