“Revolver”, mis tuli müügile 1966. aastal, sisaldas lugusid nagu “Eleanor Rigby”, “She Said She Said”, “Taxman”, “Here, There and Everywhere” ja “Tomorrow Never Knows”.
“Revolver” on lihtsalt haavamatu, ütles VH1 produtsent Bill Flanagan. “Iga lugu on suurepärane. Iga lugu on nagu lihvitud kalliskivi.”
Albumi kuulsus on viimasel ajal veelgi suurenenud, eriti seoses selle CD-variandi ilmumisega, millel leiduvad ka USA originaalist väljajäetud lood. “Revolveri” varju on jäänud seni enam tuntud “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” mis oli VH1 nimekirjas kümnes, kuid hinnati biitlite albumitest paremuselt neljandaks.
Veel pääsesid nimekirja The Beatles’i “Rubber Soul” (nr. 6), “Abbey Road” (nr. 8) ja “The Beatles” ehk Valge Album (nr. 11).
Nimekirjas teisel kohal on Nirvana 1991. aasta “Nevermind”, mis algatas grungerocki ajastu. Järgneb Beach Boys’i 1966. aasta “Pet Sounds”, mille ansambli asutaja Brian Wilson mullusel kontsertreisil tervikuna ette kandis.
Esiviisiku lõpetavad kahe traagilistel asjaoludel hukkunud artisti tööd — Marvin Gaye’i “What’s Going On” ja Jimi Hendrix Experience’i “Are You Experienced?” 1967. aastast.
Vanim nimekirja pääsenud muusika pärineb Elvis Presley “Sun Sessions’ist” ja on salvestatud 1954.-55. aastal, kuigi ilmus albumina alles 1976. aastal. Uusim on Lauryn Hilli 1998. aasta “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” (nr. 37).
Rolling Stonesil ja Bob Dylanil on nimekirjas kummaltki neli albumit. Kolme albumiga on esindatud Led Zeppelin, The Who, Aretha Franklin, Hendrix, Prince, Paul Simon ja Michael Jackson.
Nimekirja pääsesid megaläbimüügiga albumid nagu Jacksoni “Thriller” (nr. 23) ja Carole Kingi “Tapestry” (nr. 39), jäid paljud praegu mõjukaks tunnistatud kogumikud omal ajal erilise müügieduta — näiteks Kraftwerki 1977. aasta “Trans-Europe Express” (nr. 56), Televisioni 1977. aasta “Marquee Moon” (nr. 83) ja Jeff Buckley 1994. aasta debüütalbum “Grace” (nr. 73).
“See meenutab meile, et ajaproovile vastu pidanud albumid tähendavad väga palju miljoneile isolatsioonis elavaile inimestele,” ütles Flanagan.
